If you have been having screen problems with your ASUS laptop computer and don't have
the time or money to take it to a repair shop, you can actually open the computer yourself and fix the problem. Two connections can cause a problem with the computer screen. One is the inverter, the small rectangular chip that transfers power to the screen, and the other is the screen cable itself.
Step 1
Turn off your ASUS laptop and unplug the power cable. Close the display and turn the unit over.
Step 2
Disconnect the rectangular battery pack from its port at the back of the computer.
Step 3
Locate all screws on the underside of the computer and remove them.
Step 4
Turn the unit right side up and open the display. Lift the top cover of the ASUS off the unit by the seams at the side of the cover. This exposes all the screws on the plastic bezel (frame) that surrounds the screen.
Step 5
Use the screwdriver to remove all screws on the bezel surrounding the screen.
Step 6
Separate the bezel from the screen by gently prying it off at the sides and corners.
Step 7
Tilt the screen slightly forward and away from the back display panel. Look at the back of the screen and notice the thick black screen cable.
Step 8
Remove any tape covering the screen cable and check that the cable is secure in its port. If it's not, unplug it and plug it back in, ensuring it is secure. If this doesn't fix the problem, then direct your attention to the rectangular inverter board mounted on the back of the screen. You should see two cables connected at either end of the inverter.
Step 9
Ensure the cables are plugged securely into the ports at either end of the inverter. If they aren't, unplug them and plug them back in, ensuring they are secure. This should fix any problem with your screen connection.
