The series based on the eponymous PlayStation game was highly anticipated by the public and became the second best start on HBO since 2010, behind House of the Dragon.

We knew it: everyone was impatiently awaiting the arrival of The Last of Us on HBO, especially fans of the video game from which the series is adapted. So it's no real surprise that Deadline reports that the series achieved a very good audience score during its broadcast on HBO and HBO Max, bringing together 4.7 million spectators in front of their screens.

As a reminder, The Last of Us takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and follows the adventures of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) as they try to cross a ravaged American continent and survive.

In France, the series is available on Amazon Prime Video and if we do not know the figures for its audience in France, its performance on HBO pleases the channel. It is also the second-best start to a series on HBO since the broadcast of the series Boardwalk Empire in 2010, just behind the Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon, which exploded records l last year with an audience of 9.986 million viewers for its first episode (combined on HBO and HBO Max, its streaming platform).

For Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the creators of The Last of Us series, this audience success is most gratifying: "Our goal was simply to make the best possible adaptation of this story for as wide an audience as possible. We We are overjoyed to see how many fans, old and new, have welcomed The Last of Us into their homes and into their hearts."
